AB Group’s first development - a 180 m2 shop in Logan - is still there today. Throughout the 80’s the AB Group focused on shops, factories and multi use developments in Underwood, Logan and Beenleigh.
In the late 80’s the AB Group moved its focus to the Gold Coast and began to develop larger housing developments before moving to suburban strip shopping centres and student accommodation.
Allen’s fascination for space saving led him to devise clever solutions in the early smaller townhouses the AB Group built and interior green spaces in larger scale developments long before the ‘green revolution’ or lifestyle developments were fashionable.
In 2007, disillusioned with the costs of traditional building and seeking to make housing and accommodation projects more affordable for developers and buyers; the AB Group began an R&D program that focused on pre-fabricated, factory built solutions.
The team, under son Colin, has been working on its modular program for over five years to perfect the design and finishing that allow AB Group to deliver 5-star quality and finish at a fraction of the cost of traditional building methods.
The AB Group 12,500m2 purpose-built factory, with specific tooling is equipped to roll out up to 20 units a month. The streamlined process uses a standard shell, with a pop-top and poll-out, made in a jig to deliver each design that is then fitted out internally to the required interior specifications.
The ROOM Motels project is a natural extension of the clever technology that AB Group’s expects will extend easily into retirement projects and mining camps in the years ahead.
